During an interview on Arise Television on Friday, July 10, 2026, Tony Ojukwu, Executive Secretary of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), said Peter Obi’s claim that his life was under threat and that he might not be alive to contest the 2027 presidential election should be taken seriously by all Nigerians. Ojukwu made the remark while responding to a question on whether Obi’s public statement had attracted the attention of the commission.
