Senator Suleiman Kawu Sumaila of Kano South has said he is not afraid of being suspended after the Senate rejected his motion seeking an investigation into alleged budget irregularities involving an agency linked to the Office of the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila.
According to a report by Daily Post Nigeria published on 12 July 2026, Sumaila defended his motion after the Senate rejected it. He said his concern was not the creation of the agency but how it was included in the national budget without what he described as proper legislative scrutiny.
