JUST IN: Supreme Court Vacates Order Against David Mark-led ADC

    BY SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT

.

A coalition of opposition politicians in Nigeria got a temporary lifeline on Thursday as the Supreme Court voided the “status quo antebellum” order on the David Mark-led African Democratic Congress, ADC.

.

The apex court ordered that the David Mark-led leadership will be restored while the matter at the Federal High Court case continues.

.

The unanimous judgment was delivered by a five-member panel headed by Justice Mohammed Lawal Garba.

.

It held that the Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal acted beyond its jurisdiction by unilaterally issuing such an order after it had already dismissed a case that was brought before it by one of the factions.

.

Our correspondent reports that the make or mar judgement was delivered amid heightened tension in the camp of the ADC members across the country.

.

On Wednesday night, ADC leaders held a high stake meeting at the Mark’s residence as they awaited the judgement.

.

They were said to have laid other options on the table should the judgement go against them.
