The Kaduna State Government has welcomed the arraignment of 24 suspects linked to the mob killing of a woman in Maraban Jos.
The government described the development as a major step toward justice and the enforcement of the rule of law.
This is contained in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Malam Ahmed Maiyaki.
Maiyaki commended the Kaduna State Police Command for its swift response and diligent investigation of the incident.
He praised the command’s professionalism in ensuring that the suspects were brought before the court.

The commissioner said the administration of Gov. Uba Sani strongly condemns mob violence and all forms of extra-judicial actions.
According to him, no individual or group has the authority to take over the roles of law enforcement agencies and the judiciary.
“The rule of law remains the cornerstone of every democratic society,” Maiyaki said.
He added that no allegation, grievance or suspicion could justify taking another person’s life outside the law.

Maiyaki said the incident highlighted the dangers of lawlessness and the need to use legal channels for complaints.
He urged residents to report suspected criminal activities to security agencies for appropriate action.
The commissioner warned that anyone engaging in mob action would face the full weight of the law.
He expressed confidence in the ongoing police investigation into the matter.

According to him, the police have indicated that over 100 additional suspects remain under investigation.
Maiyaki assured residents of government’s continued support for security agencies and judicial institutions.
He said the support was aimed at ensuring accountability, maintaining public order and protecting citizens’ rights.
The commissioner extended condolences to the family of the deceased woman, and urged residents to remain peaceful and cooperate with security agencies.
Maiyaki also called for support in efforts to sustain peace, justice and security across the state, stressing the need to respect the sanctity of human life at all times.
The commissioner reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring justice through due process, urging the public to remain law abiding and vigilant. (NAN)
