Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State have formally thrown their weight behind Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the 2027 presidential race while endorsing Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for a second term in office.
The endorsement took place during a stakeholders’ meeting on Thursday, where the immediate past National Chairman of the party, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, presented an expression of interest and nomination forms to the governor.
SolaceBase reports that the gesture symbolised the party’s adoption of Yusuf as its preferred governorship candidate.
Despite the endorsements, party leaders made it clear that automatic tickets would not be granted to other aspirants.
They stressed that all remaining positions would be decided through established internal mechanisms, particularly consensus arrangements.

While handing over the forms, Ganduje said the decision to back Yusuf had already been agreed upon by party leaders.
He noted that the forms—covering both expression of interest and nomination—must still be completed and submitted in accordance with party guidelines.
Meanwhile, the motion to adopt Tinubu as the party’s sole presidential candidate was moved by Rabiu Sulaiman Bichi and received unanimous support from those present.
Earlier, the Kano State APC Chairman, Umar Haruna Doguwa, revealed that the state chapter had initially planned to purchase Tinubu’s nomination forms as a demonstration of loyalty.
However, he noted that others had already done so before them.
The meeting reaffirmed the party’s alignment ahead of the 2027 elections while leaving the door open for internal competition in other contested positions.
