Kano declares eid el-Kabir holiday for schools

The Kano State Ministry of Education has announced the eid el-Kabir holiday for all public and private primary and secondary schools across the state.

The announcement was contained in a statement signed by Musbahu Aminu Yakasai, Director of Public Enlightenment at the ministry, on Wednesday.

According to the statement, boarding school students are expected to proceed on holiday from Saturday, May 23, 2026, and resume on Sunday, May 31, 2026.

It added that day schools would begin the holiday break from Friday, May 22, 2026, while academic activities are scheduled to resume on Monday, June 1, 2026.

The ministry also advised parents and guardians of students in boarding schools to pick up their children on the approved closing date and ensure their timely return upon resumption.

“The Kano State Ministry of Education hereby announces the eod el-Kabir holiday break for all public and private primary and secondary schools across the state,” the statement said.

The Commissioner of Education, Ali Haruna Abubakar Makoda, wished students, teachers, parents and the entire education community a peaceful and joyous eid el-Kabir celebration.
