The Kano State Government says it has executed more than 1,508 developmental projects worth over N928 billion across the state’s 44 local government areas under the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
The Commissioner for Public Procurement, Projects Monitoring and Evaluation, Comrade Nura Ma’aji Sumaila, disclosed this during an international media briefing on Saturday, where he highlighted the administration’s achievements in infrastructure development, social services and public service delivery.
According to the commissioner, 799 of the projects have been completed, while 709 are at various stages of completion.
He added that the figure is separate from the 619 constituency projects currently being implemented across the 44 local government areas through members of the Kano State House of Assembly.
Sumaila said the government had remained committed to infrastructure renewal and equitable development across both urban and rural communities, noting that the projects were guided by the principles of transparency, value for money and quality execution.
“The Kano State Government, under the leadership of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, has continued to demonstrate strong commitment to infrastructure renewal, social development and improved service delivery across the state,” he said.

He explained that the projects covered several strategic sectors aimed at improving the welfare of residents and strengthening the state’s economic foundation.
Providing a breakdown of the projects, the commissioner said urban renewal initiatives accounted for contracts worth over N169 billion, covering road rehabilitation, drainage construction and other metropolitan improvements.
He further stated that the government awarded contracts valued at more than N118 billion for the construction of five-kilometre roads in 38 local government areas as part of efforts to improve connectivity and accessibility across the state.
On security, Sumaila said the administration had invested over N6.863 billion in the construction of Kano State Neighbourhood Watch security divisions in 36 local government areas to strengthen community policing and enhance public safety.
He also disclosed that rural infrastructure projects valued at over N397 billion were being implemented across all 44 local government areas, covering education, healthcare, roads and other social interventions designed to improve living conditions in rural communities.

According to him, other government projects have a cumulative contract value of N255 billion.
The commissioner said the Ministry of Public Procurement, Projects Monitoring and Evaluation would continue to ensure strict compliance with due process and technical standards in the execution of all projects.
“Our responsibility is to ensure that all projects are executed in line with approved specifications, while safeguarding public resources and guaranteeing that citizens receive quality infrastructure and services,” he said.
He noted that Governor Yusuf’s development agenda places priority on urban infrastructure, education, water supply, rural access roads, security and social services, adding that the investments were intended to improve mobility, expand access to essential services and promote sustainable economic growth.
Sumaila reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to effective project monitoring and accountability, expressing appreciation to stakeholders for their continued support.
“We remain committed to ensuring value for money and quality project delivery through effective monitoring of all developmental projects across Kano State. The administration will continue to deliver projects that meet the needs and aspirations of the people,” he said.
