The Kano State Hisbah Board has arrested a 25-year-old man, Bala Haruna, over alleged attempt to traffic two girls to Arab countries for domestic work.
Deputy Commander General of the Board, Dr. Mujahid Aminuddeen, disclosed this on Friday, July 3, 2026 saying the arrest was made on Thursday in one of the car parks in the city.
He said the suspect, from Kazaure Local Government Area of Jigawa State, was apprehended alongside two girls — Fatima Safiyanu, 23, from Daura in Katsina State, and Hasiya Haruna, 11, from Kazaure in Jigawa State.
He said investigation was ongoing to unravel how the trip was arranged and to ensure appropriate legal action was taken.
Aminuddeen said the board had since handed over the people to the custody of National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP).
The Hisbah Board warned women, parents and the general public to be wary of persons recruiting people for domestic work abroad, urging them to verify the authenticity of any job offers before accepting.
