Traffic has been diverted on the Kara Bridge inward Mowe following a road traffic accident at the Ward OPIC section of the bridge.
Motorists travelling from Ketu, Ojota and the Third Mainland Bridge areas have been advised to use the Otefola/Jubilee Estate route to Isheri-Magodo Junction, then proceed towards New Garage and make a U-turn under Kara Bridge to join the contraflow lane towards Mowe.
Motorists can also drive towards Kara Bridge and divert at AP Filling Station to make a U-turn and join the contraflow traffic towards OPIC turning, where they can reconnect with their rightful lane.
Articulated vehicles have been advised to proceed straight to AP Filling Station, make a U-turn under Kara Bridge and join the contraflow lane towards OPIC turning and their onward destinations.
The contractor has also been directed to remove the jersey barrier to create one lane for traffic inward Mowe, while the remaining three lanes are being used for recovery operations.
A crane and tow truck were deployed to facilitate the recovery of the affected vehicles.
The vehicles involved in the accident were subsequently removed from the roadway with the assistance of private towing trucks and moved to the roadside.
LASTMA officials managed traffic at the scene and handed the recovered vehicles over to the police officer present for documentation and further necessary action.
Traffic officials will continue to monitor the corridor to ensure smooth movement and prevent further obstruction.
The agency said the operation has been concluded, with its LRT team returning to base.
