The Katsina State Police Command has arrested a suspect for allegedly adulterating, re-packaging and selling expired powdered milk in Funtua Local Government Area of the state.
The command’s spokesman, DSP Abubakar Sadiq-Aliyu, disclosed this in a statement on Monday in Katsina.
He said the suspect was arrested by operatives of the Makera Police Division following credible intelligence.
Sadiq-Aliyu said the suspect was intercepted on June 14, with 10 bags of powdered milk suspected to be expired and unfit for human consumption.
He said preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect allegedly mixed the expired milk with genuine stock before re-packaging it in counterfeit bags for sale to unsuspecting members of the public.

According to him, the recovered products have been secured as exhibits, while the suspect remains in police custody.
The police spokesman said the suspect would be charged to court after the completion of investigation.
According to him, the offences violate Sections 152 and 154 of the Penal Code Law 2021 (as amended), which prohibit the sale and adulteration of harmful food and drinks.
He quoted the Commissioner of Police, Ali Umar-Fage, warning traders and business owners against engaging in activities that endanger public health.
According to him, the commissioner also urged residents to report suspicious commercial activities to the nearest police station. (NAN)
