The Katsina state government has moved to tackle rural education gaps in the state, as it plans to distribute 3,000 electric motorcycles to teachers posted in remote communities.
The Chief Executive Officer of Ben10 Equipment, Ben Oshi, who disclosed the development during a press briefing on Monday, said the initiative is set to ease daily movement for teachers serving in hard-to-reach areas.
He said poor mobility has for years posed a major challenge for those assigned to remote schools, often forcing them to travel long distances under difficult conditions.
Oshi commended Governor Umar Dikko Radda for what he described as a “visionary intervention,” noting that the provision of electric motorcycles is expected to improve punctuality and overall teaching effectiveness in rural communities.
He also acknowledged the role of Xie Huping, whose firm is partnering in the procurement process. According to him, the collaboration represents a structured attempt to support teachers’ welfare and strengthen rural development through better accessibility.
Huping, Chairman of X and B Company, expressed appreciation to the governor for the confidence reposed in his company. He said the initiative reflects a commitment to improving conditions for rural teachers and assured that his firm would deliver high-quality, durable motorcycles that meet international standards.
He added that the company is committed to reliability, efficiency and a maintenance framework that will sustain the project over time.
Oshi further highlighted the wider socio-economic benefits, explaining that improved mobility would enhance teachers’ connection with local communities and contribute to better service delivery.
He noted that easier access to rural areas could support inclusive growth and strengthen engagement between teachers and the communities they serve.
He also pointed to the environmental advantages of deploying electric motorcycles, saying the shift aligns with global sustainability goals by reducing dependence on fossil fuels and lowering operational costs. He maintained that the companies involved would ensure durability and long-term functionality through a dedicated maintenance structure.
According to him, the project underscores the importance of rural teachers in the state’s development process and signals the government’s commitment to prioritising education and community development across Katsina.
