Kebbi federal varsity promotes 5 to professor, reader ranks

The Governing Council of the Federal University Birnin Kebbi (FUBK) has approved the promotion of five academic staff to the ranks of Professor and Reader.

The Head of Information and Public Relations of the university, Jamilu Magaji, made this known in a statement issued in Birnin Kebbi on Thursday.

Mr Magaji said the approval was granted at the 33rd meeting of the university’s Governing Council, held on Tuesday, Sept. 16, following recommendations by external assessors and the Senior Staff Appointments and Promotions Committee.

He said Dr Ologe Oluwatoyin of the Department of Applied Geophysics was promoted to the rank of Professor of Exploration Geophysics.

Mr Magaji added that four other academic staff were promoted to the rank of Reader in their respective disciplines.

“They include Dr Sa’adu Umar-Wali of the Department of Geography, promoted to Reader in Groundwater Hydrology, and Dr Danyaya Muhammad-Shehu of the Department of History and International Studies, promoted to Reader in International Relations and Diplomacy.

“Others are Dr Saratu Muhammad-Mera of the Department of Educational Foundations, promoted to Reader in Educational Management, and Dr Nensok Hassan-Mohammed of the Department of Quantity Surveying, promoted to Reader in Materials and Structures (Construction Technology),” he said.

Mr Magaji quoted the institution’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Muhammad Zaiyan-Umar, as congratulating the newly promoted professor and readers on behalf of the governing council.

“Zaiyan-Umar wished them continued success in their academic and professional endeavours and urged them to sustain their contributions to teaching, research and service to the university,” the PRO said.
