Keyamo Petitions IGP Over Destruction, Looting By Alleged NDC Thugs In Delta Community

Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, says he will petition the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, over alleged destruction of campaign billboards and looting of shops in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State.

Keyamo, in a post on X, alleged that supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) attacked campaign materials belonging to Tompolo’s door-to-door campaign organisation in the community on Friday, September 18, 2026.

He also alleged that the attackers entered shops with dangerous weapons and looted property.

Keyamo said he had video evidence of the incident and claimed that some law enforcement personnel were present during the alleged attack.

“I want the world to see what the NDC’s thugs came to my community in Effurun, Uvwie LGA of Delta State, to do on Friday, 18th September, 2026,” Keyamo said.

He accused sections of the media and human rights organisations of applying different standards to political violence, comparing the alleged incident in Effurun with the earlier blockade of Peter Obi’s entourage in Benue State.

Keyamo said he had warned political actors against resorting to self-help and would instead pursue the matter through the police.

“I WILL BE SUBMITTING A PETITION TO THE INSPECTOR-GENERAL OF POLICE THIS WEEK TO THOROUGHLY INVESTIGATE this incident and bring all those found wanting to book,” he said.

He added that the petition would cover members of the APC if any were found to have violated the law.

Keyamo also called for disciplinary action against any law enforcement personnel found to have condoned the alleged destruction and looting.
