The Chief Whip of the House of Representatives, Bello Usman-Kumo, has accepted the decision of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Gombe State to pick Jamilu Isiyaku Gwamna as the party’s consensus candidate for the 2027 governorship election.
Kumo, who also sought the APC governorship ticket, said he respects the party’s decision and believes party unity is more important.
He explained that he supported the process because he helped in drafting the Electoral Act that allows political parties to choose candidates through consensus.
“My interest and desire to contest for the governorship position in Gombe State were not hidden,” he said.
He added, “However, with the consensus option validly adopted and affirmed in accordance with the party’s position, I am left with no better option than to toe the party line.”
The lawmaker praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for their leadership and urged his supporters across the state to remain loyal to the APC and work for the party’s victory in the next elections.
