The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced the emergence of Mustapha Rabiu Kwankwaso as its deputy governorship candidate for Kano State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The announcement was made following a high-level stakeholders’ meeting held at the Miller Road residence of the national leader of the Kwankwasiyya movement and former Kano State governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, in Kano.
SolaceBase reports that Mustapha, who is the son of the former governor, will serve as the running mate to the party’s governorship candidate, Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, who was earlier selected by the party’s leadership as its flagbearer for the 2027 governorship election.
Before his emergence, Mustapha Rabiu Kwankwaso served as the Commissioner for Youth and Sports in Kano State, where he was credited with spearheading several youth development and sports initiatives during his tenure.
The NDC is expected to formally unveil its full campaign structure and commence consultations with party stakeholders across the state in preparation for the 2027 governorship election
