A lady has defended Gen Zs following the backlash surrounding the viral “Good morning Tony” controversy, arguing that the incident should not be used to generalise about the behaviour of an entire generation.
The “Good Morning Tony” controversy began after a young woman went viral for addressing billionaire businessman Tony Elumelu simply as “Tony” during a public encounter, sparking criticism online over what some considered disrespectful, particularly toward an older and more prominent person.
A lady, during a public discussion, reacted to the drama by sharing her own opinion.
According to her, the practice was not a Gen Z culture but rather a policy associated with UBA.
She claimed to have worked at UBA for more than three years and said the issue became a major point of discussion when the policy was introduced.
The lady criticised those who blamed the woman involved, arguing that attention should instead be directed at the organisation for introducing a policy it allegedly could not consistently enforce.
