“I’m not used to praise-singing. This is governance at its best. In other local governments we have visited, after 10 minutes, my committee members are always in a hurry to leave. But here, they felt relaxed because you are working. Any blogger can quote me: ‘Adunni ń ṣe bẹ́ẹ̀ bẹ́ẹ̀.’”
Those were the words of the Chairman of the Lagos State House of Assembly Committee on Local Government Administration, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development, Hon. Babatunde Ganiyu Okanlawon, as he showered praises on the Chairman of Mosan-Okunola Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Akindele Adunni Opeyemi, during the committee’s oversight visit to the council on Monday, 6 July, 2026.
The commendation came as the committee continued its statewide inspection of projects being executed across the 20 Local Government Areas (LGAs) and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in Lagos State.
Members of the committee are: Hon. Kehinde Joseph, Hon. Abiodun Orekoya, Hon. Surajudeen Tijani, Hon. Stephen Ogundipe, Hon. Adebola Shabi, Hon. Jubril Abdulkareem, Hon. Musbau Aina Lawal, Hon. Aro Moshood, Hon. Olusegun Ege, Hon. Oladele Ajayi, and Hon. Samuel Apata.
Within just eleven months in office, Hon. Akindele’s administration has delivered projects spanning infrastructure development, road construction and rehabilitation, education, agriculture, healthcare, ICT, empowerment, and other critical sectors.
Commending the council’s achievements, Hon. Okanlawon, who represents Kosofe Constituency I, described Mosan-Okunola LCDA as one of the most outstanding councils visited so far during the Assembly’s oversight exercise.
“Looking at the performance we have witnessed here today, I’m not surprised. She has always been a committed party member. She knows where the shoe pinches. Adunni is working; Mosan-Okunola is moving.
“We have never seen this level of development within such a short time in office, and I’m not sure we will witness another before the end of this exercise. Fantastic Mosan-Okunola. Well done,” he said.
Hon. Aro Moshood, representing Ikorodu Constituency II, singled out the council’s concession agreements with contractors for special commendation, describing them as a model of transparency, accountability, and sound governance.
“This is the first time I have seen a local government sign concession agreements with contractors. This is fantastic. It reflects seriousness, transparency, accountability, and excellent administrative capacity,” he said.
He added that the council’s impressive performance justifies improved internally generated revenue from residents to sustain development.
He further urged the committee chairman to make the developmental strides recorded in Mosan-Okunola the benchmark for assessing other councils across the state.
Hon. Stephen Ogundipe, representing Oshodi-Isolo Constituency I, also applauded the council chairman.
“Hardly will you find a politician who performs excellently both politically and administratively. In both regards, you have done remarkably well,” he said.
Similarly, Hon. Jubril Abdulkareem, representing Agege Constituency II, said:
“I want to appreciate you because you have not disappointed us. At the same time, I must remind you that the reward for hard work is more work.”
Hon. Abiodun Orekoya, representing Somolu Constituency I, expressed confidence in the chairman’s leadership.
“Once again, I want to commend you. I’m not surprised. Had you performed below expectations, I would have been disappointed.”
He encouraged the council to intensify its empowerment programmes, noting that they remain one of the most effective tools for reducing poverty at the grassroots.
Hon. Surajudeen Tijani, representing Ojo Constituency II, described the projects executed by the administration as “iconic” and applauded Hon. Akindele for delivering quality projects with visible impact.
