The Lagos State Government has sealed five hospitality establishments in the Ikorodu area of the state over alleged persistent violations of environmental regulations.
The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA), in a statement issued on Monday, July 27, 2026, said the hotels failed to comply with the agency’s directives despite repeated warnings, notices, and opportunities to rectify the identified infractions.
LASEPA noted that the affected facilities were found to have contravened environmental regulations and failed to comply with enforcement directives issued by the agency.
The agency added that the enforcement exercise was carried out in line with the directives of the Lagos State Government to ensure strict compliance with environmental laws, protect public health, and promote a safe and sustainable environment for all residents.
It listed the affected companies to include Germini Steel Nigeria Limited, Top Steel Nigeria Limited, Pulkit Alloy Nigeria Limited, Landcraft Steel Nigeria Limited, Sunflag Steel Nigeria Limited, and African Steel Nigeria Limited.
“The enforcement followed the discovery of several environmental infractions, including the emission of brown dust, black dust, mill scale, shredded dust, dead dust and non-metallic particulate matter, all of which pose significant risks to air quality, public health, and the surrounding environment,” LASEPA said.

Speaking on the enforcement exercise, the General Manager of LASEPA, Dr. Babatunde Ajayi, reiterated the agency’s commitment to enforcing environmental laws across Lagos State.
Ajayi stressed that industrial operators must adopt sustainable production processes and install effective pollution control measures to prevent harmful emissions into the environment.
Ajayi noted that the Lagos State Government remains resolute in its determination to protect residents from the adverse effects of industrial pollution and will continue to take decisive action against facilities that fail to comply with established environmental standards.
He further urged all industries operating within the state to prioritise environmental responsibility by adhering strictly to regulatory requirements, emphasising that compliance is essential for sustainable industrial growth and the well-being of Lagos residents.
