The Lagos State Government is set to intensify enforcement operations along the Apapa and Lekki Port corridors following a review of the traffic situation and feedback from stakeholders.
The state government disclosed this in a post on the Lagos State Government’s Facebook page, following a strategy meeting chaired by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, Hon. Sola Giwa, on Tuesday at the Ministry of Transportation, Alausa.
Giwa said the assessment revealed gaps in the existing enforcement process, making it necessary for the ministry to “re-jig” its strategy to improve traffic management along the two major port corridors.
He said more traffic management personnel would be deployed to the Lekki Port corridor to strengthen compliance with the E-Call-Up system and facilitate the movement of articulated trucks into and out of the ports.

“The Ministry will deploy more traffic management personnel to the Lekki Port corridor to strengthen truckers’ compliance with the E-Call-Up system and ensure the seamless movement of articulated trucks in and out of the ports,” Giwa said.
The Special Adviser also said the ministry had scheduled the implementation of the revised enforcement strategy, while urging officers of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) to remain committed to their responsibilities.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Transportation, Olawale Musa, said a shift-duty schedule would be introduced for LASTMA officers operating along the Apapa and Lekki corridors.
According to Musa, the arrangement would “ensure their presence at all times,” while officers found to be underperforming would be redeployed immediately.
He also warned operators of illegal parks around the two port areas to comply with the state’s operational guidelines.
The Ministry of Transportation urged all stakeholders to voluntarily comply with the E-Call-Up system to reduce congestion along the port corridors.
It also warned that subsequent requests for clemency from violators after enforcement would not be entertained.
The meeting was attended by the General Manager of LASTMA, Olalekan Bakare-Oki; the agency’s Director of Operations; Controllers; Commanders Zebras; and other senior officers responsible for the two corridors.
