The Lagos State Government has urged residents to take responsibility for their environment by clearing drainages and properly disposing of waste as the state’s monthly sanitation exercise holds this Saturday.
The exercise is scheduled for 6:30am to 8:30am across Lagos, including Ikeja, Badagry, Ikorodu, Lagos Island and Epe.
The government urged residents to join the exercise, stressing that keeping the environment clean should not be left solely to the authorities.
Residents were encouraged to clear blocked drainages, bag their waste properly and take ownership of their surroundings.
The appeal comes amid recurring concerns over flooding on roads across parts of Lagos, with blocked drainage channels often contributing to poor water flow during heavy rainfall.
The sanitation exercise is being promoted under the hashtags #LastSaturdaySanitation, #LagosMonthlySanitation and #OwnYourEnvironment.
