Lawal Meets Tinubu, Briefs Him On Zamfara Security, Economy, Politics

Governor of Zamfara State, Dauda Lawal, on Thursday met with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the State House, Abuja, to present an update on security developments, economic performance, and political issues in the state.

The meeting, which took place shortly after the President’s engagement with governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC), focused largely on efforts to address insecurity in Zamfara.

In a statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Idris, the discussion centred on ongoing military operations and areas requiring further intervention.

“The focus of the meeting is the security situation in Zamfara, particularly highlighting the successes achieved so far and identifying areas that require improvement to facilitate the return of peace across the state,” the statement reads.

According to the statement, President Tinubu assured the state government of increased federal support to strengthen security operations.

“The president stressed his commitment to providing full support to the Zamfara state government, including deploying more troops and the essential equipment to guarantee smooth operations.”

Beyond security, Governor Lawal also briefed the President on economic developments in the state, including improvements in internally generated revenue and prospects for growth.

“Furthermore, Governor Lawal briefed the President on Zamfara’s economic growth, particularly the increase in the state’s Internally Generated Revenue, and discussed ways for the federal government to provide more support.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu reaffirmed his commitment to ongoing support, which encompasses exploring federal resources and programmes that could be utilised to enhance local industries and generate job opportunities in Zamfara.”
