Louisiana mass shooting: Ten people, including eight children between the ages of 1 and 14 years old were killed in a mass shooting in Louisiana on early Sunday (US time), police said.
Shreveport police chief Wayne Smith described the incident as domestic-related shootings, which occurred at different homes early Sunday. A total people were shot, including children between the ages of one to about 14 years old, Smith said.
Police said the gunman stole a car while leaving the scene of the shootings, but was chased down by officers and later shot dead during the chase.
The shootings spread across three locations, and some of the children killed were related to the suspect, they said, adding they are still gathering details about the crime scene. “This is an extensive scene unlike anything most of us have ever seen,” Smith was quoted as saying, according to the Associated Press (AP).
“No officers were were harmed in the shooting that involved an officer after a police pursuit into Bossier City on Sunday morning,” police said in a statement.
The Shreveport police have asked the Louisiana State Police to investigate the mass shooting, who have asked citizens with pictures, video or information related to the shootings to share it with state police detectives.
