The Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors Forum.
In a statement, the forum congratulated Makinde on his emergence, saying the appointment reflected his consistent leadership and dedication to democratic governance at a time of growing pressure on democratic institutions.
It noted that Makinde’s leadership qualities had become more evident in recent years, particularly as Nigeria continues to grapple with economic challenges, insecurity, and broader governance concerns.
According to the statement, his vision for a better Nigeria has served as a source of hope for many, while his public stance on accountability, justice, and the protection of democratic values was also commended.
The forum further described the Oyo governor as a leader whose record in office and commitment to national development had positioned him as a unifying figure within the party and beyond.
It expressed confidence that under his chairmanship, the PDP Governors’ Forum would experience renewed energy and stronger coordination in its activities.
