Senator Kabiru Marafa has been chosen as the governorship candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Zamfara State for the 2027 elections, securing the ticket through a consensus agreement reached during a party meeting held in Gusau, the state capital.

The chairman of the party’s electoral committee, Aminu Jelani, formally announced Marafa as the NDC’s candidate for the election.

In his response to the announcement, Marafa expressed gratitude to party members for their backing and pledged to offer responsible and accountable leadership should he win the governorship.

He pointed to corruption as a key obstacle to development in Zamfara and committed to promoting transparency and the careful management of public resources.

He also promised to improve governance, raise the standard of living for residents, and ensure equal opportunities for people across the state.

Marafa recently made the switch to the NDC after departing from the ADC, a move that had earlier been confirmed by party leader Seriake Dickson. According to a party statement, Marafa has also committed to helping build the NDC’s strength and leading its operations in Zamfara State.
