The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a married couple, Mr. Chigozie Ezeofo and Mrs. Isioma Ezeofor, over allegations of sexual and physical abuse of their 19-year-old househelp, Miss Blessing Joseph.
According to the Trending CCTV footage and reports, the husband is accused of repeatedly attempting to sexually assault the young domestic worker, particularly when his wife was away from home. The allegations include claims of persistent sexual misconduct and attempted assault within the household. watch video
The situation reportedly came to light after a neighbour raised an alarm over suspected abuse in the residence. The complaint prompted police intervention and subsequent arrest of the couple.
Further allegations indicate that Mrs. Ezeofor physically assaulted the househelp on several occasions. In one reported incident, she was accused of pouring hot water on the teenager, leaving her with injuries that required medical attention.
Following the report, operatives of the Lagos State Police Command arrested both suspects and transferred the case to the Gender Unit of the Command for further investigation.
Police authorities say the suspects are currently being interrogated, while efforts are ongoing to obtain full statements from all parties involved, including the victim and potential witnesses.
The Command confirmed that the suspects will be charged to court upon completion of investigations, in line with relevant laws on sexual offences and child protection.
The victim is said to be receiving medical care and support as the investigation continues.
