The Kano State Hisbah Board will on Monday begin medical screening for participants in the state-sponsored mass wedding programme scheduled to unite 3,000 couples.
The Board Deputy Commander General, Mujahideen Aminudddeen, announced on Sunday that prospective couples from 24 local government areas must report to their respective Hisbah offices on Monday for the exercise.
According to Aminudddeen, the councils affected include Rogo, Wudil, Tudun Wada, Warawa, Kibiya, Dawakin Tofa, Garun Malam, Kura, Dambatta, Karaye, Tsanyawa, Minjibir, Rimin Gado, Shanono, Kabo, Tofa, Rano, Bebeji, Ajingi, Gwarzo, Sumaila, Kiru, Takai, and Madobi.

He said that the screening will cover HIV/AIDS, hepatitis, genotype compatibility, drug use, and pregnancy tests for female applicants.
The Hisba Deputy Commander General stressed that only those who pass will be cleared to participate in the mass wedding.
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf had earlier unveiled plans to sponsor the marriage of 1,500 men and 1,500 women, mostly widows, divorcees, orphans, and low-income residents.
Each groom will receive ₦100,000 as dowry support, while couples will be given household items such as beds, mattresses, wardrobes, and food supplies.
In addition, beneficiaries will get ₦100,000 grants to start small businesses.
The initiative, organised by the Hisbah Board, is aimed at promoting social stability, reducing economic hardship, and empowering families across the state.
