Femi Azeez has reportedly decided to represent the Nigeria’s Super Eagles at international level, according to emerging reports in Europe.
The Millwall winger, who is eligible for three nations, has opted to commit his future to Nigeria after discussions with the Nigeria Football Federation.
Eligibility clears path for Nigeria switch
Born in England to a Nigerian father and Spanish mother, Azeez was eligible to play for England, Spain or Nigeria.
However, having never represented either European nation at youth level, the 24-year-old does not require FIFA clearance to switch allegiance.
Reports indicate that the NFF moved quickly to secure his commitment, engaging both the player and his representatives in recent weeks.
His decision adds to Nigeria’s growing recruitment of dual-national talents, strengthening depth ahead of upcoming international competitions.
Boost for Chelle’s squad depth
Azeez’s arrival presents another attacking option for head coach Éric Chelle, who continues to reshape the squad.
He joins a list of players who have recently aligned with Nigeria, including Ryan Alebiosu, Emmanuel Fernandez and Arthur Okonkwo. Meanwhile, William Osula remains a target, though no final decision has been confirmed.
Strong Championship form drives interest
Azeez has been one of the standout performers in the EFL Championship this season, registering nine goals and seven assists.
His performances earned him a place in the division’s Team of the Season and have played a key role in Millwall’s promotion push.
The club currently sit third, level on points with Ipswich Town and comfortably ahead of chasing sides.
With promotion within reach, Azeez could be playing in the Premier League next season. He has already attracted interest from top-flight clubs including Brighton & Hove Albion and AFC Bournemouth.
