MTN Foundation has launched the 2026 edition of its flagship What Can We Do Together (WCWDT) community intervention programme, opening nominations for communities to benefit from healthcare and education infrastructure upgrades across Nigeria.
The initiative will support the renovation of 40 Public Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) and 15 Public Secondary School Science Laboratories as part of efforts to improve access to quality healthcare services and strengthen science education nationwide.
Announcing the programme, the Foundation said Nigerians can now nominate communities and schools that require intervention through the official WCWDT nomination platform.
Speaking during the launch, Director of the MTN Foundation, Etim Amana, described the initiative as a people-focused intervention built on collaboration and collective responsibility.
âThe life we live is not just about us. It is about service, responsibility, and shared progress. This programme is built around people and communities, and how we can work together to improve lives,â he said.
Executive Director of the MTN Foundation, Odunayo Sanya, said the programme will also help improve practical science learning for students across the country.
âIn education, we are supporting the next generation of scientists, engineers and doctors by giving them access to science laboratories where they can learn through practice and imagination. We are also opening nominations for communities and schools to benefit from these interventions, and we encourage Nigerians to take part in the process,â she said.
WCWDT is a community-driven intervention platform designed to address service delivery gaps in key social sectors through partnerships involving communities, institutions, and stakeholders.
According to the Foundation, the programme has recorded major impact since inception, with more than âŚ4 billion invested in social infrastructure projects across Nigeria.
Past interventions under the initiative include the upgrade of 181 PHCs and over 110 science laboratories, reaching 623 communities in 32 states and covering more than 517 Local Government Areas.
For the 2026 cycle, the healthcare interventions will focus on improving maternal wards in selected PHCs to enhance service delivery, patient experience, and operational readiness. The Foundation also stated that each state and the FCT will benefit from at least one PHC intervention.
In the education category, 15 science laboratories will be renovated and equipped to improve STEM learning outcomes, with at least two secondary schools selected from each geo-political zone.
The nomination window opened on May 5 and will run until July 5, 2026. Nigerians can submit entries through www.mtn.ng/wcwdt, while MTN subscribers can also nominate communities by sending âMTNâ via SMS to 421.
