During an interview with Mic on Podcast on Sunday, June 28, 2026, Sunday Dare, special advisor to President Bola Tinubu on media and public communication, has shared his reaction towards the recent backlash on Nigeria’s first lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu.
Recently, Nigeria’s first lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has received massive criticism from Nigerians after she advised citizens to delve into small-scale businesses like selling bean cakes (akara), roasting corn, amongst others.
However, during the interview on Mic On Podcast, Sunday Dare, special advisor to President Bola Tinubu on media and public communication, recalled how his mother had raised him with profits she made from selling bean cakes (akara) and bananas.
He emphasized that whatever height he has attained in life is as a result of his mother’s micro-enterprise and residence.
In his words, “Wherever I am today, my mother sold akara; I carried banana trays in my head to market in Jos, Plateau State. My mother sold oranges, and through that they were able to train me, so what’s wrong with that?”
