The ambassador-designate to Mexico, Reno Omokri has spoken about his close professional and personal relationship with Barrister Osa Director, the National Publicity Secretary of the opposition Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC).
This follows Director’s inclusion in the 2026 national honors list.
Taking to his social media handles, Omokri congratulated Director, describing him as a longtime friend and legal representative.
Omokri commended President Bola Tinubu for recognizing Director’s role in the historic June 12 struggle and his contributions to establishing Nigeria’s Fourth Republic.
Omokri wrote: “I congratulate Mr. Osa, Director, my dear friend and lawyer of many years, and currently the National Publicity Secretary of the Nigerian Democratic Congress, who is being conferred with a National Honour by His Excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Federal Republic of Nigeria, for his role in the June 12 struggle and his pro-democracy activities that gave birth to the Fourth Republic.
“Osa, to use a local parlance, you are my personal person, and I am proud of you and what you have achieved in a life of service to God and humanity. I pray that God grants you a long life for more meritorious service to Nigeria.”
President Tinubu announced the national awards on Friday for 51 prominent Nigerians during a nationwide broadcast marking 27 years of unbroken civilian rule.
The recognition featured individuals who actively opposed military dictatorship during the 1990s.
Director, an investigative journalist and lawyer, rose to prominence as a senior writer for TELL Magazine. He faced harassment and imprisonment under the Sani Abacha military regime due to his reporting.
