Frontline 2027 Governorship Aspirant of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) Enugu State, Professor Jehu Onyekwere Nnaji has commended the delegates at the party’s national convention held in Abuja for zoning the 2027 presidential ticket to southern part of Nigeria.

This is even as supporters of the gubernatorial aspirant were cynosure of all eyes at the venue of the convention. They danced and sang with banner and leaflets with inscription: “Professor Jehu Onyekwere Nnaji” displayed everywhere in the arena in solidarity for their leader.

Professor Nnaji was the first governorship aspirant from Enugu State to move from African Democratic Congress (ADC) to join Peter Obi in NDC.

Speaking to journalists, the Special Aide to Professor Nnaji, said that his principal, Professor Jehu Onyekwere Nnaji is disturbed by the issue of youth unemployment, pointing out that many of them are exposing themselves to trafficking, prostitution and other social vices.

“This convention is more than a gathering. It’s a reminder that the future of our democracy depends on unity, participation, and building structures that truly serve the people”, he said.

Nnaji, a Professor of International Law and Global Politics, agreed with Mr. Peter Obi who asserted, “Our diversity must become our strength, not a weapon of division in the hands of desperate politicians.”

He reiterated, “it is high time we took our destiny in our hands. We need a real positive change in Enugu State and if given the opportunity, we will reclaim Enugu State in 2027.

“If elected as governor in 2027, we will rescue our Enugu State and rebuild it on the foundations of unity, equity, justice, competence, and productivity”, he added.

According to him, “There is need for competent, compassionate, and transformative leadership for restoration of hope to pull our people out of poverty.

The Amurri born scholar contested in the 2023 governorship seat in his home state, Enugu on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) but apparently out of affections and way of expressing his love for humanity devoid of rumpus, stepped down for the current governor of Enugu State, Dr Peter Mbah.

Recall that Nnaji who also ran for Enugu East Senatorial position in 2019, has many international professional/academic publications to his credit.
