NDA cautions public on range as shooting exercise begins in Kaduna

The Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) has begun a five-day shooting exercise in Kaduna,  for cadets , urging residents around the Afaka Range to avoid stipulated areas for safety.

The Academy’s Public Relations Officer, Maj. Reuben Kovangiya, said in a statement on Monday that the exercise would run from July 20 to July 24, between 5:00 a.m  and 6:00 p.m daily at the NDA Open Range, Afaka, Kaduna.

He said the exercise was part of the academy’s routine training programme for cadets.

Kovangiya urged residents of Mando, Tsamiya, Kauya and other communities around the Afaka area, as well as the general public, to avoid trespassing or moving close to the shooting range throughout the period of the exercise.

According to him, the academy has put in place all necessary safety measures to ensure the successful and safe conduct of the training.

He appealed to media organisations and community stakeholders to help disseminate the information widely to enhance public awareness and safety.

Kovangiya also appreciated the continued cooperation and understanding of members of the public, while conveying the assurances of the Commandant of the NDA, Maj.-Gen. Oluyemi  Olatoye. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
