A former lawmaker, Senator Dino Melaye, has criticised former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, for dumping the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).
Obi and his prospective running mate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, had on Sunday left the ADC for the NDC following the lingering leadership crisis and litigations in the ADC.
Their defection has since triggered a wave of movements from the ADC to the NDC.
Reacting in a statement on Wednesday, Melaye accused Obi of avoiding competitive primary elections.
He said the former Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate left the ADC because he could not withstand the internal party crisis.
Melaye said, “Peter Obi excused himself from tough situation. If he can not face party tribulations and crisis, how does he intend to handle Nigeria? Because Nigeria wahala pass ADC problems oooo.”
The former senator alleged that Obi preferred easy political arrangements to competitive contests.
He said, “He can only operate in an air-conditioned kitchen. Hot kitchens are not for him.
“He has never gone through primary, APGA gave him a free Governorship ticket, Atiku gave him a free VP ticket, Labour gave him a free Presidential ticket.”
Melaye further claimed that Obi’s alleged dislike for primaries was the reason he left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and later the ADC.
“He cannot be part of the primary election, that’s why he left PDP, that’s why he left ADC for another free ticket in NDC. NDC is an agency of APC,” he added.
