The National Examinations Council (NECO) has released the results of the 2026 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE).
NECO Registrar, Prof. Dantani Wushishi, announced the results on Thursday during a press briefing, revealing that 1,378,048 candidates registered for the examination, while 1,371,992 eventually sat for it.
According to the registrar, 804,948 candidates, representing 58.67%, obtained at least five credits, including English Language and Mathematics.
Wushishi further disclosed that 1,126,118 candidates, representing 84.70%, obtained at least five credits regardless of their performance in English Language and Mathematics.
He also revealed that 1,496 candidates were involved in examination malpractice during the 2026 examination, compared with 3,878 cases recorded in 2025.
“Number of candidates with five credits and above, including English Language and Mathematics, 804,948, representing 58.67%.”

The NECO registrar explained during the question-and-answer session that the adoption of computer-based examinations had contributed to the reduction in examination malpractice.
The release of the results means candidates can now check their performance in the 2026 NECO SSCE and proceed with their next academic or career plans.
