The National Examinations Council, NECO, has said no fewer than 22,000 supervisors will be recruited by the Council to ensure a seamless conduct of the 2026 SSCE Internal which is scheduled to commence on 15th June, 2026.
According to a statement issued on Tuesday by the Spokesperson of NECO, Mr Azeez Sani, the exam body said it has transitioned from the Analogue mode of Recruitment of Supervisors and Assistant Supervisors to a fully Electronic process, in line with the recommendations of the Ministerial Committee on the Improvement of Quality of Examination in Nigeria, and in a bid to strengthen Examination Supervision Mechanism.
Sabi further announced that as a result to the transition, all qualified pensionable teachers on Grade Level 12 and above who are not less than 30 years of age and are interested in serving as supervisor in the 2026 SSCE Internal, should apply on NECO Website.
“It should be noted that the supervisor recruitment on NECO website is fully automated and no third party is required,” he said.
He stated that this new recruitment system will prevent fraud in the recruitment of supervisors, prevent examination malpractice and enhance fairness and credibility in the recruitment process.
NECO however warned the public against fraudulent online portals purporting to recruit examination supervisors for the forthcoming 2026 Senior School Certificate Examination, SSCE, Internal.
The examination body warned that the fake websites are misleading unsuspecting applicants by requesting details of their academic qualifications and demanding payments as part of the recruitment process.
Sani stressed that NECO does not require any payment from teachers seeking to serve as examination supervisors for the 2026 SSCE Internal.
He stated that all qualified pensionable teachers on Grade Level 12 and above who are at least 30 years old and interested in serving as supervisors should apply exclusively through NECO’s dedicated recruitment portal.
“The supervisor recruitment on NECO website is fully automated and no third party is required,” he said.
The Council noted that the new electronic recruitment platform is designed to enhance transparency, fairness and credibility in the selection process while also helping to curb examination malpractice.
NECO further explained that the system would reduce opportunities for manipulation and ensure that only qualified candidates are engaged to supervise examinations across the country.
