The North East Development Commission (NEDC) has warned the public against a fake education support programme purportedly offering funding for MSc students.

In a statement issued on Friday, the commission said information circulating about an alleged NEDC Education Support Fund for MSc students, including stated requirements and a purported submission point at the NEDC office in Polo, Maiduguri, was false and unauthorised.

NEDC said it was not currently receiving applications for any MSc Education Support Fund as claimed in the circulating message.

The commission urged members of the public to disregard the information and avoid submitting personal documents, including NIN slips, admission letters, identity cards and indigene certificates, to individuals or locations claiming to represent NEDC.

It also cautioned the public against fraudulent schemes and the unauthorised use of the commission’s name and identity.

NEDC advised members of the public seeking information about its programmes, interventions and opportunities to rely only on its official communication channels and verified announcements.
