The 2026 APC Consensus Aspirants Forum in Niger State has endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago for second terms in office.
This was disclosed in a statement signed by Bologi Ibrahim, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Niger State, on Wednesday, September 2, 2026.
The forum, led by its Chairman, Abdul Abdulsalam, announced its position during a visit to the Government House in Minna, where it expressed satisfaction with the policies and programmes of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the leadership of Governor Bago.
Abdulsalam said the forum believed the governor had demonstrated the leadership required to take Niger State to greater heights and therefore deserved another term in office.
He said, “the Forum reaffirms its total support to the farmer governor” and assured Bago that its members remained loyal to the APC and would continue to work for the progress of the party.
According to him, the members would also support and vote for all APC candidates contesting various political offices in the next general elections.
The forum’s Secretary, Haruna Gambo, also dismissed rumours that members of the group were planning to defect from the APC.
Gambo said, “they remain loyal to the farmer governor and his ideals and do not intend to ditch the APC Party.”

He said the forum’s members remained committed to the governor and the APC despite their individual outcomes at the party’s primary elections.
Responding, Governor Bago appreciated the members for maintaining unity and continuing to support the APC despite losing the party’s primary elections.
The governor commended their “courage, sacrifice, patience and perseverance,” assuring them that his administration would continue to recognise their contributions.
Bago further assured the aspirants that he would carry them along in his campaign team ahead of the election.
He said the inclusion of the members in his campaign structure would enable them to contribute to the party’s efforts towards securing victory in the forthcoming elections.
The governor also reiterated his administration’s commitment to the “New Niger Agenda”, saying his government remained focused on transforming the state and making it “the pride of every Nigerlite.”
The forum’s endorsement adds to growing political support for Bago’s bid for a second term in Niger State, while its declaration for President Tinubu also signals its commitment to the APC’s leadership at both the state and federal levels.
