A 30-year-old decorator, Esohe Aigbe, has been killed in Benin City, Edo State, after she reportedly went to assist a friend at a funeral venue.
The incident occurred on May 27 at Ojo Street, Ogida Quarters, where the victim had gone to help decorate the venue for a burial ceremony.
It was gathered that Aigbe had completed her work and was still at the venue when she was attacked by unidentified persons.
A source said the attackers fled immediately after the incident.
“The deceased was attacked at the venue of the burial where she went to do a decorating job. After the attack, the perpetrators left hurriedly,” the source said.
Good Samaritans were said to have rushed the victim to the University of Benin Teaching Hospital, where she was confirmed dead.
The Edo State Police Command confirmed the incident, saying one suspect had been arrested in connection with the killing.
The command’s spokesperson, Eno Ikoedem, said investigation into the case had commenced.
“I’m aware of a murder case in the area. We already have one suspect in our custody, and investigation is still ongoing as I speak to you,” she said.
