A former National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Ralph Nwosu, has dismissed claims of division within the party, insisting that the ADC remains united ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Naijaonpoint reports that Nwosu spoke during an interview on Arise TV, where he described reports of multiple factions in the party as attempts by political opponents to weaken it.
He said the ADC remained a strong national platform and would be on the ballot in 2027 despite controversies over parallel conventions and leadership disputes.
Nwosu said the party was progressing and attracting growing support across the country.
“There is no faction in ADC. What you are seeing are efforts by powerful interests to throw mud at a party that Nigerians now see as a credible alternative. ADC is progressing and doing very well,” he said.
He added that the turnout of supporters in several states showed increasing public confidence in the party.
“We had massive crowds across Nigeria. From Lagos to Ogun, Anambra and Sokoto, Nigerians are showing where the direction of the 2027 election is heading,” he said.
The former chairman defended the decision to dissolve the previous National Working Committee (NWC), saying it was voluntary and meant to reposition the party.
According to him, the ADC was not created for personal interests but for national development.
“We did not form the party for ourselves. We formed it for a greater Nigerian nation. At the appropriate time, we opened the doors for everybody to join in building the country,” he added.
Responding to concerns over legal disputes and separate conventions, Nwosu said the party’s internal Alternative Dispute Resolution mechanism remained available to resolve grievances.
He alleged that some external political forces were trying to destabilise the ADC through influence and inducement.
“The only disruptive tendencies we are seeing are from people in government who are uncomfortable with the growing strength of ADC,” he stated.
Nwosu expressed confidence in the leadership of former Senate President David Mark within the coalition.
He said Mark had shown focus and discipline in efforts to reposition the party.
“At the beginning, I was concerned whether the coalition would deliver, but David Mark is focused and disciplined. He is committed to delivering results for Nigerians,” he said.
The former chairman also denied allegations that party tickets were sold to aspirants, including former presidential candidate Dumebi Kachikwu.
“There has never been any transaction for tickets in ADC. Nobody paid me for any ticket. We are committed to building a new Nigeria, not transactional politics,” he said.
Nwosu added that arrangements involving party stakeholders, including Nafiu Bala Gombe, were based on collective sacrifice and internal understanding.
“It is not about transactions. All of us agreed to make sacrifices for the country and work together for victory,” he said.
