The All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders in Ebonyi have declared that there would be no contest in any of the constituencies with consensus applied to determine candidates for various political positions.
Former Senate President, Pius Anyim, made the declaration on Saturday while briefing newsmen on the outcome of the party’s stakeholders meeting with Gov. Francis Nwifuru in Abakaliki.
Anyim, the Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), said that party’s stakeholders have queued behind Nwifuru on consensus candidacy in all state and national assembly constituencies towards the 2027 polls.
“The party leaders lauded the governor’s approach of consensus for state and national assembly positions in the state.
“Following the earlier meeting of Tuesday which involved stakeholders across the three senatorial districts, the present meeting was very productive.
“Stakeholders agreed that consensus is the best way to run a party,” he said.
He disclosed that the stakeholders urged the governor to sustain his governance strategy which aligns with global democratic ideals.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the stakeholders engagement involved present and former governors, ministers, national assembly, house of asembly members, ambassadors among others from the state who are APC members.
