Nollywood actor, Alex Ekubo, is dead

Popular Nollywood actor Alex Ekubo has died at the age of 40.

 

News of his death was confirmed on Tuesday by some of his colleagues in the film industry, including Funke Akindele, Bolanle Ninalowo, and Godwin Nnadiekwe, who paid tribute to the late actor on social media.

 

Reacting via her Instagram story, Funke Akindele wrote: “Hmmmmmm. Rest in peace, Alex. I tried to reach out to see you one more time, but I guess you knew best. May your kind soul rest in peace, Alex. ‘Ore mi’ like you fondly called me, I will always remember and cherish the good times we shared together. Rest in Peace, Alex.”

 

Bolanle Ninalowo, who is currently in the United States, also mourned the actor in a post on his page.

 

“Rest on, Alex. May God heal your family and us all,” he wrote.

 

Actor Godwin Nnadiekwe described the news as devastating and emotional.

 

“I’m struggling to find the words. This news has truly broken me. Nollywood has lost a rare soul, and I’m lost for words because this wasn’t the plan, Alex Ekubo.”

 

“To think you already prepared your Will — It’s heartbroken, I can’t quite describe. Rest well, my friend.”

 

The actor’s reported death has triggered widespread reactions across social media, with fans and colleagues expressing shock and grief.

 

As of the time this report was filed, the family of the actor had yet to release an official statement regarding his death.
