Former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Chibudom Nwuche, has thrown his weight behind the governorship ambition of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in Rivers State, Hon. Ogundu Kingsley Chinda, describing his emergence as a boost for inclusive leadership, grassroots democracy, and the future development of the state.
Nwuche, while congratulating Chinda on emerging as the APC governorship flagbearer, said the development represents a victory for progressive politics and people-oriented governance in Rivers State.
He assured the APC candidate of his total support and pledged to mobilise strong grassroots and political backing across his constituencies and other parts of the state ahead of the governorship election.
The former Deputy Speaker urged Hon. O.K. Chinda to sustain his de-tribalised leadership style by treating every Rivers citizen fairly and equally, irrespective of ethnic, political, or religious affiliations.
He also appealed to Rivers people to embrace a leadership vision founded on peace, unity, inclusion, economic growth, and socio-economic advancement for the overall benefit of the state.
Nwuche further congratulated candidates from Rivers West Senatorial District, federal constituencies, and members of the Renewed Hope family and Rainbow Coalition who emerged victorious in the APC and PDP primaries ahead of the 2027 general elections in Rivers State.
Among those he specifically congratulated were Chief Felix Obuah, APC senatorial candidate for Rivers West Senatorial District; Hon. Solomon Bob, candidate for Ahoada East/Abua-Odual Federal Constituency; and Hon. Victor Obuzor, candidate for Ahoada West/Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni Federal Constituency.
According to him, their victories should be seen as a call to service, sacrifice, and responsible leadership rather than mere political achievements.
Nwuche stressed that leadership should always be driven by integrity, accountability, fairness, and genuine commitment to improving the welfare of the people.
He noted that Rivers State has experienced political divisions, governance challenges, and avoidable tensions in recent years, which he said have slowed development and weakened public trust in democratic institutions.
The former Deputy Speaker maintained that leaders across political divides must place the interest of the people above personal ambitions and partisan struggles, insisting that peace, stability, and progress in Rivers State should remain the collective priority.
Nwuche, who is also Chairman of the Board of the South South Development Commission (SSDC), advised emerging leaders to remain humble in office and recognise that political power is temporary.
He warned against the influence of sycophants and encouraged leaders to embrace mentorship, avoid unnecessary conflicts, and work towards sustaining the development trajectory of the state.
He also urged Rivers’ electorate to support credible and competent leaders with proven records of service, noting that the future of the state depends on visionary leadership, unity, and collective responsibility among stakeholders.
