YCee claimed that Nigeria is gradually shifting away from rewarding academic excellence.
Nigerian rapper Oludemilade Martin, popularly known as YCee has lamented over what he describes as an ‘olodo uprising’, stating that there is a growing tolerance for ignorance in the country.
While speaking in a recent interview on the Afropolitan podcast, YCee claimed that Nigeria is gradually shifting away from rewarding academic excellence.
He noted that the shift is dangerous, adding that it can- in the long run- harm younger generations.
“Nigerian society is no longer celebrating academic excellence. People don’t even want to go to school anymore. It’s not even Yahoo culture anymore; now we have a ‘Peller culture. This ‘Olodo’ uprising we are witnessing is terrible. It feels like we are trying so hard to accommodate ignorance so people won’t feel bad, and now they seem to be the majority. The massive attack on Nigeria’s educational system is alarming,” he stated.
