Former Deputy President of the 9th Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, has raised the alarm over what he described as increasingly credible threats to his life and members of his family allegedly emanating from the Delta State Government House in Asaba.

Omo-Agege made the allegation in a statement posted on Facebook as he commenced campaign activities in Delta Central Senatorial District.

He said the campaign would begin with stops in Uvwie Local Government Area and continue across the other seven local government areas in the district.

The Delta Central Senatorial District candidate urged the Nigerian public, international community, civil society organisations, media and security agencies to take formal notice of the alleged threats.

“I note with grave concern the disturbing and increasingly credible threats to my life and my family members in Delta State emanating from the Delta State Government House, Asaba,” Omo-Agege said.

He expressed concern over his safety as he begins his campaign activities, urging relevant authorities and stakeholders to remain vigilant.

Omo-Agege further alleged that any harm that may come to him or members of his family should be attributed to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.

“Should anything untoward happens to me or members of my family, the Nigerian people and more particularly the Urhobo people of Delta Central senatorial district should HOLD the Governor of Delta State Elder Sheriff Oborevwori responsible and accountable,” he said.

Omo-Agege, who served as Deputy President of the 9th Senate, is seeking to represent Delta Central Senatorial District in the forthcoming election.
