The spokesperson for the Ondo State House of Assembly, Olatunji Fabiyi, has said the Assembly will not resume plenary until Speaker Olamide Oladiji resigns from office.
Fabiyi maintained that the majority of lawmakers had withdrawn their confidence in the Speaker and were firmly behind moves to remove him.
The Assembly has been embroiled in a leadership crisis following calls for Oladiji’s resignation over the alleged unilateral reordering of the Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC) 2025 budget, valued at N9.2 billion.

The crisis escalated after 21 of the 26 lawmakers reportedly signed a resolution indicating their readiness to impeach the Speaker should he refuse to step down.
Although Fabiyi declined to disclose when the Assembly would reconvene for plenary, he said he was unaware of any meeting between lawmakers and the state executive on Sunday aimed at resolving the impasse.
He also disclosed that an allegation of an assassination attempt on a member of the Assembly had been reported to the appropriate security authorities for investigation.
“We have resolved not to hold plenary until there is a change of Speaker,” Fabiyi said.
“For now, there is no new development except that the Speaker should give way and allow another person to preside over the Ondo State House of Assembly.
“If he doesn’t resign, we will impeach him. If he fails to do the needful, we will do the needful.”
