Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has commended the peaceful and transparent conduct of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary election on Lagos Island, describing the exercise as a reflection of the party’s internal democratic culture.
Speaking with journalists after casting his vote on Saturday, the governor said the orderly process demonstrated the maturity, unity and organisational strength of the APC ahead of future electoral activities.
Sanwo-Olu and his wife, Ibijoke, arrived at their polling unit at Ward E3, St. Stephens (WAEC) School, Lagos Island, at about 12:04 p.m. to participate in the primary election.
The governor praised party officials, delegates and security personnel for ensuring a smooth and hitch-free exercise.
According to him, the presence of representatives of the other aspirant, alongside party officials, further reinforced the credibility and transparency of the process.
“The other aspirant said he did not have anything and no representatives, but all our representatives and party officials were here,” Sanwo-Olu stated.
He noted that the calm atmosphere and disciplined conduct displayed by party members at the polling unit underscored the level of cohesion within the APC.
Sanwo-Olu also appreciated party faithful and members of the media for their support and orderly conduct throughout the exercise.
“I want to thank everybody for coming. I thank the gentlemen of the press again for coming. Thank you very much,” he said.
The APC presidential primary election was conducted across various wards nationwide as part of the party’s preparations for the next phase of its electoral activities.
