The BTO4PBAT27 Support Group has called on members and supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as well as the general public, to participate peacefully and responsibly in the August 15 Osun governorship election.
The group also declared its support for the APC governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), urging party members across the state to unite and work towards his victory at the polls.
In a statement issued on Wednesday in Osogbo, the Director General of the group, Ogbeni Adojutelegan Adesuyi Gideon, said the preservation of peace, democratic integrity and electoral transparency should take precedence over political differences.
Adojutelegan urged political actors, electoral institutions and other stakeholders to work towards creating an environment where citizens can vote freely without intimidation, violence or fear.
“We call on all relevant institutions, political actors, party supporters, and stakeholders to contribute positively to an atmosphere that guarantees a free, fair, peaceful, transparent, and credible election, where every lawful vote counts and the will of the people is respected,” he said.
He further urged members and supporters of the group across Osun to remain peaceful, law-abiding and focused throughout the electoral process, stressing that political differences should not become a source of violence or division.
On the APC’s chances at the election, Adojutelegan called for greater unity among party members, saying grassroots mobilisation and responsible engagement with voters would be crucial to securing victory for Oyebamiji.
“Our support for Bola Oyebamiji is rooted in our commitment to the progress of the APC and the strengthening of democratic governance in Osun State. We encourage our members and supporters to mobilize responsibly, engage the electorate respectfully, and exercise their franchise peacefully,” he added.
The group also reaffirmed its support for President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, saying it remains committed to promoting national development, economic growth and social stability.
Adojutelegan stressed that regardless of political affiliations and differences, the peace and progress of Osun State must remain the priority of all stakeholders.
“Whatever our political differences may be, the peace and progress of Osun State must come first. Democracy must prevail, peace must be protected, and the people must be allowed to freely make their choice at the ballot box,” he said.
