Education advocate Alex Onyia has called for an immediate investigation into a series of alleged misconduct cases at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University.
The call was made in a statement shared on Onyia’s official social media account, in which he outlined a range of serious allegations that have reportedly been linked to the institution over time.
These include sorting, extortion, intimidation, robbery, rape, killings and various other forms of misconduct.
Onyia urged the Anambra State Government to set up a dedicated panel to thoroughly look into the allegations surrounding the university and ensure that those responsible are held accountable.
He also levelled specific allegations against the current Vice Chancellor, accusing him of introducing a mandatory payment application that requires students to pay a fee of N15,000, with those who fail to comply reportedly facing a penalty of N35,000.
Onyia stressed that students could no longer be left to bear the burden of such conditions, insisting that meaningful change needed to happen without delay.
