Oyo SEMA Issues Flood Alert Ahead of Heavy Rainfall


The Oyo State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA, has alerted folks residing in flood-prone communities within the state to start out getting ready for heavy rain and its attendant flooding.

In an announcement made out there to newsmen in Ibadan as we speak, the Administrative Secretary, SEMA, Mrs. Ojuolape Busari stated stories from the Oyo state Flood Early Warning System indicated that the areas to the east and northeast of Ibadan metropolis centre are more likely to expertise heaviest rainfall

She stated this contains components of Lagelu Local Government Area (LGA), particularly areas like Iyana Offa, Moniya (japanese components), and communities additional east in direction of Osun State.

Busari stated based on the knowledge made out there by the Oyo state Flood Early Warning System, some components of the north of Ibadan metropolis, probably components of Egbeda LGA (japanese edges) and areas bordering Lagelu LGA, will expertise heavy rainfall as we speak.

“Communities along the Ibadan-Ife Road (A5 highway) eastward: Areas like Egbeda and further east on this major road, will also experience heavy rainfall.

Busari added, “In simpler terms, if you are in or traveling through the eastern and northeastern parts of Ibadan today, particularly areas along the major roads heading east and north, you should expect significant rainfall, potentially leading to heavy downpours and associated impacts like localized flooding. The central parts of Ibadan will also see considerable rain.”

She due to this fact urged folks of the state to instantly start preparations to avert dire penalties, saying, “discretion is the better part of valour”.
