The Oyo State Government has announced plans to strengthen healthcare delivery through a €55 million Healthcare Initiative Project that will upgrade hospitals, expand primary healthcare services and improve emergency medical response across the State.
The initiative is in line with Governor Seyi Makinde’s Roadmap for Sustainable Development 2023–2027, which prioritises improved access to quality healthcare.

“In the Oyo State Roadmap for Sustainable Development 2023–2027, Governor Seyi Makinde committed to strengthening healthcare delivery through the renovation and equipping of Primary Healthcare Centres, the procurement of additional ambulances, and the upgrade of secondary healthcare facilities across the State,” the government said.
According to the government, the Healthcare Initiative Project will be financed through a €55 million French loan, with the possibility of it being converted into a grant.
“The Healthcare Initiative Project, to be financed through a €55 million French loan, which, if judiciously utilised, will be converted into a grant,” the statement said.
The project will support the modular construction and equipping of hospitals with specialised facilities, including a Cardiac Centre, Emergency and Maternity Centres, Operating Theatres and Intensive Care Units (ICUs).
“The project will support the modular construction and equipping of hospitals to include a Cardiac Centre, Emergency and Maternity Centres, Operating Theatres, and Intensive Care Units (ICUs).
“It will also provide 39 ambulances, 10 dental centres, and 200 Primary Healthcare Centres, alongside emergency and maternity facilities in Igbo-Ora, Ogbomoso, Oyo, Moniya, Kishi, Iseyin, Okeho, and Eruwa,” the statement added.
The government said the initiative is expected to improve access to quality healthcare services, strengthen emergency response and enhance medical infrastructure across Oyo State.
